Steven Runciman (1903-2000)

Αν ενδιαφέρεστε να διαβάσετε βιβλία για το Βυζάντιο, τα καλύτερα είναι του Στήβεν Ράνσιμαν, που είναι ο γνωστότερος βυζαντινολόγος του 20ού αιώνα। Λέγεται ότι σε ηλικία 5 ετών μιλούσε και διάβαζε ελληνικά και λατινικά. Κατά τη διάρκεια των σπουδών και των μελετών του έμαθε αρκετές από τις δυτικές γλώσσες, καθώς και Αραβικά, Περσικά, Τουρκικά, εβραϊκά, συριακά, αρμενικά και γεωργιανά για τη μελέτη των πηγών της Μεσαιωνικής ιστορίας.
